Now about a month and a half later, I've got a new version almost ready to submit to apple. It's currently in beta, couple more kinks that i need to work out and some new graphics in the works. I'm planning on submitting back to the itunes store sometime in the first or second week of Feb.

All of the fixes that were originally going to go out with v1.2 which got hammered down by SE, will be in this version. I have also added a new feature which will allow you to import your own icons for all the gear in this app. The app will ship with some default images (free from copyright infringement) for gear, but I'm sure you will want some better and more specific graphics.

Introducing the FTP Import!

You find this screen by tapping on [Update Application Data] from the Gear Sets screen. Then Choosing "User Generated (FTP)".

I recommend using FileZilla to transfer your files from this point. (http://filezilla-project.org/)

Just enter the "Connect To:" IP Address given to you by the FFGear app where it says "Host:" in FileZilla.

To Upload your images or data lists, just drag-and-drop the files onto the Uploads folder. Currently the app is accepting 3 different Files to be uploaded:

Icons.zip - archive of icons for gear items in the app.

GearInfo.plist - xml containing info on all the gear in the app.

food.plist - xml containing info on all food items in the app.

Aside from this, I'm also currently finalizing a Mac & Windows client that will build the three files mentioned above. It is a modified version of the tool that I had originally used to gather all the item/food icons. The Mac client is ready and the Windows client is very close. I'll update here when they are both ready and available to download.

For legal reasons i cannot host any of the files containing copyrighted images from FFXI, so it will be up to you all to either gather up your own (suggest by using one of the two client apps mentioned above) or maybe some of the other folks that are using this app will do so and provide them to you all.

Either way, I'm very excited to have this FFGear app so close to being available to you all once again!

PUP Weapon Selection caused app to crash

App Data Update taking unneccesarily long

I've fixed these both and added some other features like BLU spells and a better way to keep the app data up-to-date.

I'm more than aware that there are probably other issues that I havent found yet, please report them here or email me at actionsreaction(AT)gmail.com and I will get them fixed and another update out asap!

I also already have an update almost ready to post to the AppStore, this update will include Blu Spells (spell bonuses/trait-combos), a fix to prevent unnecessarily long app data updates along with a couple small bugs that I didnt find until after the initial appstore submission.

::Edit::

Oh yeah, weapon selection for PUP is broken currently... sorry... will be fixed w/the update

I'll be posting support documents here shortly

I'll have a video tutorial on how to use the FTP upload soon.

Upload your comics via FTP

Ok, I've finally found the time to get together an alternative method for getting your comics into PullLists on your iPhone or iPod Touch. I have now added the capability to upload via FTP. This should be a solution to the windows users who couldnt get the Bonjour-based solution to work.

I've just finished testing this using the FileZilla ftp client. I plan on continuing testing with different FTP clients, but plan on pushing this out to the app store as soon as I can. If you have a preferred FTP client please let me know here and I'll test it w/PullLists.

Currently the FTP method will only work for .cbz(or .zip) files, but I'll also have a simple utility available for converting .cbr(or .rar) files to .cbz's.

Using this FTP method, all unarchiving and image resizing happens on the phone itself. After the upload completes, .cbz's are unarchived and the comic is added to your readable comics in the app. When displaying each page, the app checks the image size and resizes to the maximum supported size if neccessary.

keep tuned in, more info to come...

update 2/23

Ok, new version of the x86 Windows client is now available... still very beta, but has been stable so far. There are still features that i need to finish working on, but this is much more full-function than the previous version.

Status windows to indicate import/export processing.

Interface tweaks to make more obvious when new Comics are added to the application.

The basic reader has been implemented and is available now to allow you to read your comics on the larger screen of your PC

Now for the 64bit version... i'm still working hard to get a Bonjour for windows solution to work, but it is not there yet. As soon as its available I will get it to you all.

::EDIT::

I've also decided to make the original Windows transfer utility available again for those of you having problems with the new Windows Pull Lists Library app. You can find the original Pull Lists Utility here

There currently are some small bugs in the client which I am working on, but I wanted to get these versions out there. Let me know what you think and check back for updates!

BUT! right now I am setting up a tiger install and will get to the bottom of this issue this weekend. With any luck you Tiger folks will have a working build before the weekend is out! Sorry for the delay in this and thank you for your patience.

Memory leak fixed in reader interface

Reworked Cover Previews in issues table, used to use the full size first page and sized it down to fit in the table... caused memory issues and killed performance of the app with more than 4 or 5 issues in the table. NOW, new version of the client app will send a smaller size cover preview to the phone along with the full size pages. If the new smaller size cover isnt found, a placeholder "cover not found" image is displayed instead.

Added a preference bundle with a slider allowing you to turn on/off cover previews. This is located in the main iPhone Preferences App.

still working on:

Trying to get a response from the iTunes team about what is acceptable for a feature-limited free version... this has been very frustrating, and has been like pulling teeth to get any info from the iTunes folks... but i'll get something out there eventually

I've got the basic foundation for a new Importing mechanism for getting your comics on the iPhone. Basically, when you have the Desktop client running it will broadcast what comics it has available to send. On your phone when you tap import, you'll be presented with this list and you'll select from this list which comics you want to import.

Also I've got an OSX 10.4.x (tiger) version of the Mac Client available now as well.

Feature Development- New Import Mechanism

So I've started working on a new method for getting your comics to the iPhone/iPod. The idea I'm running with is to have the Mac/PC client to be constantly broadcasting what files it has available to share. Pull Lists on the iPhone would pick up on this when you hit the currently existing "Import" button. It would then present you with a list of available comics to upload, select a comic... hit upload... and voila upload starts.

considering also to remove all forms of interface blocking during the upload, so that it would just process in the backgroud while you are running the app(naturally the upload would be cancelled if you quit the app). Pending & current uploads would display in the interface as would comics already existing on the iPhone, but with some visual indication (font color, italics, icon) that they are either currently uploading or pending upload.

I'm currently working out all the details on just HOW i'm going to do this, but so far it seems very do-able. I'll keep you all posted on how this progresses.
